The driver from Mantova gets on the podium of Race 1, proving all weekend to be one of the fastest on track.
Imola, 05.09.22 - Positive weekend on the Imola circuit for Carlo Tamburini, who proved to be one of the protagonists of the Romagna round of the Italian TCR Championship. In fact, the driver from Mantova conquered the much-desired podium, finishing third in Saturday's Race 1. Once again Tamburini showed how much he likes the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari, managing to always place among the fastest on track. After the victory on the same track, in the TCR round in May, another podium is added to the palmares of the driver, a young promise of Italian motorsport. This is the balance of his weekend:
"The weekend for me was positive, since free practice we worked a lot on finding the feeling with the car, focusing both on race pace and qualifying lap. In qualifying I set the third fastest time, I drove well and I was aware that I didn't have enough pace for pole, also considering the extra 30 kilograms I had to carry. In Race 1 I got off to a good start, ran a clean race with no mistakes, always managing tires to preserve them as much as possible. I am very happy to be able to return to the podium as I hoped, on my favorite circuit."
Sunday's Race 2, however, did not go as planned, due to two collisions that saw him swerve and go off the track, through no fault of his own. Despite a comeback, he finished 19th.
"Race 2 was a different story: I was very fast, as evidenced by my times, which were sometimes better than the winner or podium finishers. Unfortunately, however, I was knocked out at the Acque Minerali turns and again at Villeneuve and finished in 19th position. Still, I am happy with my performance this weekend."
Definitely a positive round for Carlo and for TCR, which recorded a world record of entries for a race in the category, with a total of 37 entries.
