nice speed in tcr italy debut in monza

The debut weekend for Carlo in TCR Italy just ended in Monza; 32 touring cars lined up on the grid and important names were present among the entries. The 17 year old, with his MM Motorsport Honda, was the only rookie between all the other drivers.

The weekend started on Friday morning with the first free practice session, finished in fifth position and first among the Honda cars. In the afternoon there was FP2, finished in first position with a strong demonstration of talent and great speed, despite the lack of experience compared to the other drivers in the best positions. Saturday morning it was time for qualifying, where Carlo once again expressed its potential by finishing in third position, less than a tenth away from Pole Position.

Race 1 took place in the afternoon in unpredictable conditions: the rain started to fall during the formation lap, surprising almost all the drivers who were using slick tires. Carlo made a good start from the second row, but he was blocked by the driver in front of him, who remained stopped in his box. In the early stages of the race the 17 year old stayed in the top 5. After a period under Safety Car, Carlo tried to stay close to the first part of the group and made a mistake coming out of the Variante Ascari, doing a spectacular 360 without damaging his Honda. He finished the race just outside the top 10 because of the difficult conditions and car setup which wasn’t ideal.

On Sunday morning race 2 took place, this time in dry conditions. Carlo started from the third row in sixth position, following the order of the reversed grid from the first eight positions of the qualifying. The start was very good and in the first lap he was able to also overtake the Hyundai of Ceccon. For the rest of the race, however, the pace was not quick because of some problems with the car, so Carlo had to settle again for the eleventh position after a series of battles on the track.

The results of the races therefore do not satisfy and do not reflect the true potential, but the driver is happy with the work done and the determination and aggressiveness shown on the track. The next appointment is in Imola in just two weeks time, where Carlo will have the chance to redeem himself and hopefully be in the right conditions to show his speed. After last year's victory at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack he aims high, in what is also his favorite track among the Italian ones.
